Working on our fall garden!

With the arrival of September that means fall is just around the corner. For central Louisiana that means not so hot temperatures. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still hot, just not as hot as July and August!

Our garden was a mess and had been neglected since spring.

Fortunately, in the area we live in, we get two growing seasons. As our temps cool a bit we can start a 2nd round of tomatoes, cucumbers, brassicas, and other favorites. We’ll just let these new ones go for as long as we can until the temps get too cold for them. For now, though, we’re glad to be back out working and getting our hands dirty.

Our cattle panel arch and a few of our favorites getting started!

We’ve also started tinkering with growing some microgreens indoors. Our plan is to produce enough microgreens and other vegetables to make them available to our community through local farmers markets and a subscription service.
